Depending on the average yield, the potential change of harvested acreage of corn is not likely to be large enough to alter prospects of surplus supplies but could be large enough to “stabilize” corn prices, according to Dr. Darrel Good, agricultural economist with the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics, University of Illinois.

Intended U.S. placements of broiler pullet chicks for the hatchery supply flock for August 2013 were 7,490,000, 2 percent above the 7,338,000 pullet chicks placed in August 2012, according to the “Chickens and Eggs” report issued this week by USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
