Prices for “most broiler parts” are expected to continue to move higher through the end of 2012 and into 2013, according to the “Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Outlook” report this week from USDA’s Economic Research Service (ERS).  Broiler processors are expected by ERS to lower production in reaction to much higher grain prices, the report said.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that the quantity of bio-based diesel products required to be included in the diesel fuel market in 2013 is 1.28 billion gallons. Bio-based diesel products are advanced bio-fuels that are derived from sources that include vegetable oils and wastes oils from renewable sources.

USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued an updated compliance guideline entitled “Controlling Listeria monocytogenes in Post-lethality Exposed Ready-to-Eat Meat and Poultry Products.” The guidance document provides specific recommendations that facilities producing post-lethality exposed ready-to-eat (RTE) poultry and meat products may follow to meet the requirements of 9 CFR Part 430, the Listeria Rule.
