USDA’s Quarterly “Grain Stocks” report for March 1 that was issued yesterday found the corn inventory about 400 million bushels more than the average pre-report trade estimate. March 1 corn stocks totaled 5.4 billion bushels.
Two bills, the School Nutrition Flexibility Act (H.R. 1303) and the Sensible School Lunch Act (S. 427) were introduced in the House last week and the Senate this week that will permanently eliminate weekly maximums on proteins and grains served in USDA’s School Meals Program.
USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued a final rule that, effective April 15, will ease the requirements for imports of live poultry from the European Union by making the following changes.
U.S. total broiler slaughter for the week ending March 30 is estimated by USDA-AMS’s Poultry Market News Service to be 149,997,000 broilers, no change from the same week a year earlier.
