In comments jointly filed with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representatives this week, the National Chicken Council, USA Poultry & Egg Export Council, and National Turkey Federation predicted that, if U.S. chicken, turkey, and other poultry products had fair and World Trade Organization (WTO) consistent access to the Indonesia market, U.S. poultry exports would approach $50 million on an annual basis.

To more adequately and expeditiously address and resolve sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) trade impediments and technical barriers to trade (TBT) in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, the Food and Agriculture Task Force  of the U.S. Business Coalition for the TPP expressed its strong support and interest for a “rapid response mechanism.”

U.S. total broiler slaughter for the week ending March 16 is estimated by USDA-AMS’s Poultry Market News Service to be 151,700,000 broilers, a 1-percent decrease from the same week a year earlier.
