Broiler production this year is now forecast at 38.459 billion pounds, 25 million pounds less than last month’s forecast and 2.8 percent above the 37.410 billion pounds estimated for 2013, according to USDA’s “World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimate” (WASDE) report issued this week.

Total U.S. exports of poultry, egg, and related products for 2013 were a record $5.90 billion, 0.7 percent higher than the $5.86 billion in 2013. Poultry meat accounted for most of the overall category’s value with $0.77 billion last year, 0.5 percent less than $5.105 billion year earlier.
