USDA trimmed its estimate for broiler production for 2013 while holding steady its estimate for 2014 production, according to the “World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates” report issued this week from USDA’s World Agricultural Outlook Board.

Chicken exports in June this year were 306,397 metric tons valued at $379.40 million compared with 283,451 tons valued at $347.01 million in June 2012, a 8.1-percent increase in quantity and a 9.3-percent increase in value.

U.S. total broiler slaughter for the week ending August 17 is estimated by USDA-AMS’s Poultry Market News Service to be 156,953,000 broilers, a 1-percent decrease from the same week a year earlier.
