Intended U.S. placements of broiler pullet chicks for the hatchery supply flock for March 2014 were 6,790,000, a 3-percent increase when compared with the 6,589,000 pullet chicks placed in March 2013, according to the “Chickens and Eggs” report issued last week by USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

U.S. total broiler slaughter data for the week ending April 26 is estimated by USDA’s Poultry Market News Service to be 152,255,000 broilers, a 2-percent decrease from the same week a year earlier.
