Broiler-type chicks hatched in the United States during January through December 2013 totaled 9,058,220,000, 1.0 percent over the 8,965,425,000 chicks hatched in 2012 and essentially unchanged from the 9,057,461,000 chicks hatched in 2011, according to “Hatchery Production 2013 Summary” issued this week from USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).
