Broiler production this year is now forecast at 38.088 billion pounds, 198 million pounds less than last month’s forecast and 1.8 percent above the 37.425 billion pounds produced in 2013, according to USDA’s “World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimate” (WASDE) report issued this week.

U.S. total broiler slaughter data for the week ending April 12 is estimated by USDA’s Poultry Market News Service to be 153,187,000 broilers, a 1-percent decrease from the same week a year earlier.
