Chavez-DeRemer was a member of the House Agriculture Committee before she was defeated in November. She will now have power over the H-2A program, which allows farmers to bring foreign workers into the United States.

Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman John Hoeven, R-N.D., said, “The Senate has worked to quickly confirm President Trump’s cabinet, and with today’s confirmation of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, the Senate has now confirmed 21 cabinet members.”

“Secretary Chavez-DeRemer has committed to advancing the president’s agenda and ensuring a level playing field for American workers and businesses,” Hoeven said.
