The House Agriculture and Appropriations Committees this week announced the addition of new Republican members for the 119th Congress, replacing some who have retired and others who have moved to other committees.
The House Appropriations Committee announced the additions of Reps. Mark Alford (R-MO), Nick LaLota (R-NY), Dale Strong (R-AL), Celeste Maloy (R-UT), and Riley Moore (R-WV). Rep. Moore is the only incoming member of Congress to be added to the committee.
The committee did not announce the subcommittees on which the new members would serve.
These new members replace the outgoing Reps. Kay Granger (R-TX), Mike Garcia (R-CA), and Jerry Carl (R-AL), who lost their reelections, along with Rep. Jake LaTurner (R-KS), who retired.
The House Agriculture Committee announced that one Appropriations Committee member, Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA), and five newly elected members would join the committee. Those new members include Reps. Tony Wied (R-WI), Rob Bresnahan (R-PA), Mark Harris (R-NC), Mark Messmer (R-IN), and David Taylor (R-OH).
Those members replace the outgoing Reps. Mark Alford, now serving on the Appropriations Committee, and Reps. Max Miller (R-OH) and Nick Langworthy (R-NY).
Reps. Marc Molinaro (R-NY), Lori Chavez-DeRemer (R-OR), and John Duarte (R-CA) were serving on the Agriculture Committee but lost their reelections.
Thus, the committee still maintains 29 Republicans in the 119th Congress.
