The 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee will hold its final two public meetings this fall before the release of its official 2025 Dietary Guidelines.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the following dates for the meetings:

  • Meeting 6:  Sept. 25, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. EST, and Sept. 26, 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. EST.
  • Meeting 7:  Oct. 21-Oct. 22

The sixth meeting’s registration window is now open. The meeting will feature updates from each subcommittee on progress made since the committee’s fifth public meeting in May. The seventh meeting will be the final meeting to aid in forming the committee’s scientific report before it is submitted to HHS and USDA. Registration information for Meeting 7 will be released closer to the meeting date. The committee will accept public comments until Oct. 7.

The Dietary Guidelines are nutrition recommendations compiled by HHS and USDA every five years that form the basis of procurement decisions for federal food assistance programs, including MyPlate, the National School Lunch Program, and the National School Breakfast Program. The guideline process begins with the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, a group of nominated individuals that reviews current research and drafts a scientific report for HHS and USDA to use in forming the guidelines.
