The House Rules Committee, which was considering the fiscal year 2024 Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration and related agencies’ appropriations bill on Thursday, did not convene to vote on a rule for the bill or decide which amendments should be in order, thus delaying a vote on the bill.
The bill would fund USDA, FDA and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
The House is now in recess until Sept. 12 and is scheduled to be in session for 12 days in September ahead of the end of the fiscal year. Congress would have to pass a continuing resolution to keep the government funded after Oct. 1.
