Broiler-type chicks hatched in August 2022 totaled 865 million, up three percent from August 2021. Eggs in incubators totaled 734 million on September 1, 2022, up three percent from a year ago, according to USDA’s latest Chickens and Eggs report.

Leading breeders placed 7.68 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during August 2022, down 12 percent from August 2021.

Total frozen poultry supplies on August 31, 2022 were up two percent from the previous month and up 11 percent from a year ago, according to USDA’s September Cold Storage report. Total stocks of chicken were up two percent from the previous month and up 17 percent from last year.
