Broiler-type chicks hatched during May 2022 totaled 854 million, up slightly from May 2021, according to USDA’s latest Chickens and Eggs report. Eggs in incubators totaled 729 million on June 1, 2022, up one percent from a year ago. Leading breeders placed 8.47 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during May 2022, down three percent from May 2021.

Total frozen poultry supplies on May 31, 2022 were up two percent from the previous month and up one percent from a year ago, according to USDA’s latest Cold Storage report. Total stocks of chicken were down two percent from the previous month but up three percent from last year.
