Broiler-type chicks hatched during April 2022 totaled 822 million, up slightly from April 2021. Eggs in incubators totaled 721 million on May 1, 2022, up slightly from a year ago, according to USDA’s May issue of Chickens and Eggs Report.

Leading breeders placed 8.25 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during April 2022, up two percent from April 2021.

Total frozen poultry supplies on April 30, 2022 were up one percent from the previous month and up one percent from a year ago, according to USDA’s latest Cold Storage report. Total stocks of chicken were down one percent from the previous month but up seven percent from last year.
