Perdue Farms and Tyson Foods both made significant charitable donations in recent weeks.
According to Meatingplace:
The Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation announced a $20,000 grant to the Committee on the Shelterless in Petaluma, California to support its Mary’s Table Effort, which provides more than 4,600 freshly prepared meals monthly to its shelter residents. The Foundation also announced a separate grant to the Davis Center Community Foundation in Parksley, Virginia, that will provide funding for educational and cultural enrichment programs serving preschoolers to senior citizens, the company said in a news release.
Tyson Foods held a free food giveaway in Crockett County, Tennessee, near the company’s Humboldt chicken processing plant. Each vehicle received one case of free product at the drive through event. The giveaway was expected to distribute about 40,000 pounds of protein.
