USDA estimates that the combined area for corn and soybean planted acreage for the 2022-2023 season will be 180 million acres, down slightly compared to last year when low prevented plantings and record acres of 180.6 million.

Corn acreage is expected to be 92 million acres, down from 93.4 million acres last year. Soybean plantings were estimated to be 88 million acres, up from 87.2 million acres in 2021 due to favorable corn-soy price ratios.

Planting intentions are scheduled to be released on March 31. Those figures will be updated at the end of June and a final figure will be given in the annual production report in January for the 2022-2023 season.
