President Biden on Thursday signed a Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government at current levels through December 3. The House and Senate each passed the bill earlier Thursday.

The bill, which averted a shutdown that was set to begin Thursday at midnight, also includes $28.6 billion in additional disaster relief and $6.3 billion for Afghan refugee resettlement.

The bill did not include a section to address the debt ceiling, which expired at the end of July. The Treasury Department has stated that it projects it will be unable to meet all of its obligations by October 18, effectively setting a deadline for Congress to address the issue.

The Senate passed the CR in a 65-35 vote and the House in a 254-175 vote.

The House has passed nine of its 12 annual appropriations bills, while the Senate has not passed a single bill through the full chamber.
