Tyson Foods on Wednesday said it is providing truckloads of ice and an initial 500,000 meals through its Meals that Matter program, designed for disaster relief, in response to the effects of Hurricane Ida.
Tyson is coordinating with Convoy of Hope, Feed the Children, The Salvation Army, and Southeastern Grocers to provide much needed relief to storm victims, volunteers, and first responders. The company is donating products from distribution centers in Rochelle, IL, Dallas-Fort Worth, TX, and Russellville, AR.
Truckloads of product have been delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank in New Orleans.
“The impact of this historic storm is still being felt, and we’re deploying resources where we can make the most impact for the safety and well-being of our team members and Tyson communities,” Tyson senior director for corporate social responsibility Debra Vernon said in a press release.
