USDA this week released its Chickens and Eggs and Cold Storage reports.

Broiler-type chicks hatched during May 2021 totaled 851 million, up 5 percent from May 2020. Eggs in incubators totaled 720 million on June 1, 2021, up 3 percent from a year ago. Leading breeders placed 8.71 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during May 2021, up 6 percent from May 2020, according to USDA’s June 22, 2021, Chickens and Eggs report.

Total frozen poultry supplies on May 31, 2021 were up three percent from the previous month but down 12 percent from a year ago. Total stocks of chicken were up one percent from the previous month but down 15 percent from last year, according to USDA’s latest Cold Storage report.
