Broiler production is forecast above 2021 as producers respond to higher prices this year and into 2022, but growth will be tempered by higher feed prices, says USDA’s May edition of the World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report.

Broiler exports are forecast higher on expected gains in foreign demand.

The report estimated 90.8 million acres of corn planted through December 2020 and is projecting 91.1 million acres for 2021. 2020 yield is 172.0 bushels per acre and 2021 is projected to be 179.5 bushels per acre.

USDA estimated 83.1 million acres of soybeans planted through December 2020 and is projecting 87.6 million acres for 2021. 2020 yield is 50.2 bushels per acre and 2021 is projected to be 50.8 bushels per acre.
