Broiler-type chicks hatched during February 2021 totaled 760 million, down six percent from February 2020. Eggs in incubators totaled 708 million on March 1, 2021, down one percent from a year ago, according to USDA’s latest Chickens & Eggs report.

Leading breeders placed 8.60 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during February 2021, up six percent from February 2020.

Total frozen poultry supplies on February 28, 2021 were down three percent from the previous month and down 14 percent from a year ago. Total stocks of chicken were down six percent from the previous month and down 17 percent from last year. Total pounds of turkey in freezers were up 6 percent from last month but down six percent from February 29, 2020, according to USDA’s latest Cold Storage report.
