USDA recently announced it has authorized $500 million for a fourth round of purchases under the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. USDA is issuing solicitations and expects to award contracts by October 30 for deliveries ranging from November 1 through December 31, 2020.

The announcement adds $500 million to the program that has already allocated nearly $3 billion to date. The program commenced in mid-May and draws funding from the CARES Act, passed by Congress in April.

The program utilizes fully cooked product, including chicken, in conjunction with fresh produce, dairy products and milk.

“Across the country, I have seen firsthand how the Trump Administration is fueling millions of American families through the Farmers to Families Food Box Program,” Advisor to the President Ivanka Trump said. “President Trump’s commitment to extend this impactful program is ensuring healthy and nutritious produce, dairy and meat will continue to reach our Nation’s most vulnerable communities while supporting our farmers.”
