Pilgrim’s Pride on Tuesday announced it plans to make a $75 million expansion of its poultry processing facility in Cold Spring, Minnesota.

Construction is expected to be completed in early 2021. The company plans to add 50,000 square feet of additional space to the facility, which will include a new cafeteria, increased space for locker rooms, and increased space in the breakroom, lunchroom, and bathrooms.

“Today’s announced expansion is an important strategic investment for Pilgrim’s, and it will help ensure our Cold Spring facility can grow its capacity to provide premium chicken products for people across the country,” Wesley Smith, manager of the Cold Spring complex, said in a statement. “This news strengthens our ongoing commitment to this region, to our grower partners and, of course, to our team members.”

Pilgrim’s currently employs around 1,200 team members at the complex and the expansion is expected to add 130 more jobs.
