The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Defend the Flock public education campaign this week announced the availability of a full suite of resources for poultry owners and handlers. These materials will help anyone who owns or works with poultry to be a #FlockDefender and practice good biosecurity in order to protect our nation’s flocks from infectious disease.

The Defend the Flock campaign offers a dedicated Resource Center that now has checklists for each of the 15 NPIP principles available in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Tagalog, as well as accessible versions for individuals with disabilities. The full suite of checklists is available for download as a single file by language. Additional materials include:

  • Recordings of the Defend the Flock webinars with APHIS veterinarians and other experts
  • Graphics for use in social media
  • Videos
  • Newsletters
  • Information that can be shared on websites and newsletters

These resources are all free and available 24/7 at www.aphis.usda.gov/animalhealth/defendtheflock. Print copies of checklists, bookmarks, posters, and postcards will be available to order later this year.
