The U.S. Department of Agriculture on Wednesday posted the 2020 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee’s final report, which will provide the final scientific input before the USDA and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) work together to finalize the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

USDA and HHS will incorporate the committee’s report along with public comments, which can be made at a public meeting on August 11, into the final guidelines. The departments plan to publish the final guidelines by the end of 2020.

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans are used as the basis for federal nutrition policy, affecting the numerous federal nutrition assistance programs such as public school breakfasts and lunches. The guidelines are also developed into nutrition resources for the general public.
