Poultry production certified wholesome (ready-to-cook weight) during May 2020 totaled 4.04 billion pounds, down 8-percent from the amount certified in May 2019, according to USDA/NASS Poultry Slaughter report issued this week. April 2020 revised certified total was 4.10 billion pounds, down 1-percent from April 2019.
The April revision represented an increase of 12.5 million pounds from last month’s preliminary pounds certified.
May 2019 contained 23 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 4 Saturdays. May 2020 contained 21 weekdays (including 1 holiday) and 5 Saturdays.
