NCC on Friday joined a broad group of food and agriculture groups in a letter to the Senate requesting that Senators cosponsor legislation from Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) that would provide temporary tax relief for critical infrastructure workers.

The bill, known as the “Financial Relief Noting The Large Impact Of Our Nation’s Essential Employees Act (FRNT LINE Act),” would provide federal income and payroll tax relief for essential workers. The bill would define essential workers according to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) definition, which includes those working in poultry processing.

“As representatives of the food and agriculture industry, we ask you to cosponsor a bill that Senator Ernst will soon introduce to provide tax relief to essential workers, including the dedicated and talented men and women working tirelessly to ensure that our food supply chain continues to operate for the benefit of all American citizens.”

The letter was signed by 27 organizations. The full text of the letter can be found here.
