NCC joined a group of agricultural organizations in a letter of support for Representatives Glenn “G.T.” Thompson (PA-15) and Dwight Evans (PA-3) AG CHAIN Act, which was introduced in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

The “Assistance and Gratitude for Coronavirus Heroes in Agribusiness who are Invaluable to the Nation Act” (AG CHAIN Act), would provide an exclusion from gross income taxes and temporary payroll tax relief to essential food and agriculture workers.

“Frontline workers in the food and agriculture sector are among the designated essential critical industries that are selflessly serving the nation during this time of crisis,” the letter said. “These workers are serving even as they face serious challenges including lack of childcare, transportation interruptions, and health concerns. These essential critical workers are fighting a war against the coronavirus at great personal cost, and we ask that they be recognized and supported by the federal government.”
