The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) on Tuesday sent to Congressional leadership and the top four appropriators an additional budget request for FY2020 of roughly $48 billion, a request that is separate from the three phases of aid either already in progress or passed by Congress.

Included within that request, which can be found at the link below and is broken down by department and agency, is $33 million for the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) “to support temporary and intermittent workers, temporary inspector relocation, and overtime inspector costs in response to coronavirus.

Additionally, OMB requested $45 million for the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) to fund “salary costs associated with commodity grading, inspection, and audit activities due to the lower than anticipated fee for service activities resulting from the coronavirus.”
