Sanderson Farms has promoted Edward Chisholm to director of operations, and Mike Tamimi as the company’s director of production.

Chisholm, in his new role, will be responsible for managing the company’s processing, live production and sales operations. Since 2017, Chisholm has served as director of production for the nation’s third largest poultry producer.

Chisholm began his career with the company in 1998 as a hatchery superintendent at the company’s Hazlehurst, Mississippi production division. Throughout his 21-year tenure with the company, he has held various positions throughout the live production side of the business including breeder-hatchery manager, broiler manager, production manager, division manager, corporate production manager and, most recently, director of production. Chisholm serves on the company’s executive committee, 401K oversight committee, corporate compensation committee and the diversity and inclusion committee, where he currently serves as the committee’s chair.

A graduate of Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi, Chisholm earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Master of Business Administration degree. He also earned a certification in Electronics Engineering Technology from Southern Technical College.

“I look forward to the opportunity to influence our operations from the start to the finish of our vertically-integrated model,” said Chisholm. “Whether it’s growing a healthy bird in live production, producing the finest quality product in our processing operations or providing the best customer service our industry has to offer, each stage of our operations is equally important to ensuring the company’s continued success, and I am honored to have the opportunity to make an impact.”

Mike Tamimi, the former corporate production manager, will be the company’s new director of production, responsible for providing leadership in the management of all live production operations. In his new role, Tamimi will manage and administer production divisions and programs, provide consultation and direction necessary to enable production management to meet operational objectives, as well as develop and execute strategic plans and programs in the areas of production.

“I have worked alongside Mike for nearly a decade now in various roles, and I know he will do an excellent job of leading our live production team,” said Chisholm. “I look forward to continuing to work with him as we both transition into new roles within the company’s leadership team.”

A graduate of Troy University in Troy, Alabama, Tamimi earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He began his career with the company in 2008 as a production manager at the company’s Adel, Georgia production division. Throughout his 12-year tenure with the company, Tamimi has held various positions throughout the live production side of the business including serving as division manager for five years. He is a member of the board of directors for the Georgia Poultry Foundation and serves as a mentor in the company’s corporate mentoring program.

“During their tenure with Sanderson Farms, Edward and Mike have worked in many of our live production divisions and at nearly every level of management,” said Lampkin Butts, president and chief operating officer for Sanderson Farms. “I am confident they both have the experience and expertise necessary to lead our company’s operations to new records of success and help us prepare for future growth.”
