Sanderson Farms announced this week the company will build a $15 million hatchery in Ellisville, Mississippi.

“The hatchery will give us two things: It will give us added capacity that we’ll need in order to support any future growth in Mississippi as well as give us additional square footage to utilize new technology that we have in our hatcheries,” director of development and engineering Pic Billingsley said.

Sanderson will break grown on the site, located in Jones County just north of Hattiesburg, by the end of 2019 and plants to complete the facility within a year. Once completed, Sanderson will move its employees from the nearby facility in Laurel, Mississippi to the new Ellisville facility. Sanderson Farms is headquartered in Laurel, Mississippi.
