Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue, visited a Tyson plant in Goodlettsville, Tennessee earlier this week.

Pence praised Tyson Foods, calling it “a legendary American company that sets the pace, that packages the food that feeds America and feeds the world.”  He noted that one out of every five pounds of chicken, beef, and pork sold in the United States is produced by Tyson.

“I came to Tennessee to say it is time for Congress to pass the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement and pass it this year,” Vice President Pence said.  Pence noted that the agreement would increase access to imports of American chicken by 10,000 metric tons within the first six years, and then increase it by 1 percent for the next 10 years.”

“We are in discussions with the European Union,” Pence said.  “Once the UK makes its way through Brexit, we’ll be negotiating a free trade agreement with them.”
