Ukrainian government officials announced they are working with their Chinese counterparts to begin poultry exports to China in 2020.

Ukrainian deputy economy minister Taras Kachka said the agreement could be reached by the end of the year. “There is some legal and bureaucratic stuff to do, but there is a plan to sign the protocol and hold inspections.”

Chinese officials have visited the facilities of Mironovskiy Hliboproduct SE, a Kiev-based poultry producer.

Ukraine’s poultry exports have doubled since 2015 and the country is forecast to export around 350,000 tons in 2019. It is the world’s seventh-biggest exporter. Its main export markets are the European Union, the Middle East and Africa.
