Perdue Foods announced on Wednesday the appointment of David Zucker as Senior Vice President of E-Commerce and New Ventures, a new position for the company.  Zucker will oversee all aspects of Perdue’s e-commerce strategy.

“E-commerce is an increasingly important part of the Perdue Foods growth plan, and we’re pleased that David Zucker is onboard to lead our efforts,” said Mark McKay, President of Perdue Premium Poultry.  “We have to meet consumers where they are today, which is more and more online, and expanding our presence is vital to drive new growth for our business and brands.”

Zucker has more than 25 years of e-commerce, marketing, merchandising, product development, analytics and call center management experience.  He was most recently General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer of Omaha Steaks International.  Prior to joining Omaha Steaks, Zucker was CMO for both Vitacost.com, a public online retailer of vitamin, nutritional supplements and shelf stable foods.  He has also held progressively more senior roles at Dell Inc., the Home Shopping Network, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and Priceline.com.

Zucker holds a doctorate in environmental economics from the University of Rhode Island, a master’s degree in applied economics from West Virginia University and a bachelor’s degree in biology from West Virginia University.  He has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida and Rutgers University, where he taught statistics, introduction and advanced economics, pricing theory and environmental economics.

Zucker will be based at Perdue’s headquarters in Salisbury, Maryland.
