Charlie Cook, founder of the independent, non-partisan Cook Political Report, will speak at the National Chicken Council’s 64th Annual Conference scheduled October 30-31 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C. Don’t miss out on Cook’s predictions for the crucial mid-terms; register today to attend NCC’s fall conference.
Cook will discuss in detail he 2018 mid-term elections, featuring hundreds of congressional, state and local primaries, that will culminate with the November 6 general election to decide whether Democrats can gain control of Congress or if Republicans will keep their hold on the legislative branch. The mid-term elections are being billed as the first big referendum on President Donald Trump’s first two years in office and have the potential to change the country’s political landscape.
Currently, the Republican Party controls both the House of Representatives and the Senate. In the House, 435 seats are up for election in the midterms. The Republicans in that chamber currently hold 238 seats. and the Democrats have 192. There are 35 seats up for grabs in the Senate. The Democrats need to defend 26 seats they already hold and win two extras in order to take control of the chamber.
Charlie Cook is considered one of the nation’s leading authorities on U.S. elections and American political trends. The Wall Street Journal has called him “the Picasso of Election Analysts.” For over a decade, Cook has written a weekly column for the National Journal Group. In 2010, Cook was the co-recipient of the American Political Science Association’s prestigious Carey McWilliams Award for outstanding contributions to our understanding of politics. In 2013, Cook was a resident fellow at the Institute of Politics at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School Of Government.
