Mercy For Animals and a coalition of other organizations, including the ASPCA, The Animal Welfare Institute and The Humane Society of the U.S., have submitted 85 pages of comments to USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) about why it should reject the National Chicken Council’s recent request for an exemption to its current 140-bird-per-minute limit. NCC’s petition cited 20 plants that process 175-birds-per-minute without problems.
