Liberty Free Range Purveyor doing business as Crystal Lake Farms, based in Decatur, Arkansas, has joined the National Chicken Council as its newest processor member company. Gerald Lessard, president of Crystal Lake Farms, will serve at the official representative to NCC.
Previously, West Liberty Foods, LLC has entered into an agreement to purchase the assets of Crystal Lake Farms including its Free Ranger line of chickens. The acquisition included both breeding stock and processing plant assets. The Crystal Lake Farms broilers are raised with pasture-centered, animal-welfare-friendly farming practices. Crystal Lake’s Free Ranger line is a slower growing chicken that thrives both inside and outside.
