The U.S. States Department of Agriculture (USDA) published a Federal Register notice on Wednesday announcing requests for membership nominations to the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods (NACMCF). NACMCF is an expert scientific committee organized to provide advice and recommendations for the development of food safety microbiological criteria. The recommendations generated by the Committee are presented to the Secretary of Agriculture and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, and may be used to inform the USDA , industry, and consumers.
There are 15 positions available on the Committee for nominations at this time. The USDA is looking to fill the positions with individuals with scientific expertise in microbiology, epidemiology, food technology, toxicology, risk assessment, infectious disease, and biostatistics, according to the Notice. Nominees may come from, but are not limited to, positions in academia, industry, and the State and Federal Governments. Instructions for submitting nominations may be found here, and all nominations must be received by January 6, 2017 for consideration.
