USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) is providing a Draft of the Federal Purchase Program Specifications (FPPS) for Canned Boned Chicken White Meat and requests industry comment on the proposed changes.  AMS is looking for comments on the following sections:

  • Sections 110 and 120  – Product Description – white meat only
  • Sections 400 and 500  – Clarify handling, processing and pathogen testing under FSIS requirements
  • Section 541  – Broiler meat option
  • Section 590  – Fill requirements for 50 oz can size, 40 oz of meat per can prior to cooking.

AMS is requesting stakeholder feedback on the proposed specifications and requests that responses be submitted no later than March 23.  The draft is available here.
