USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) this week posted two videos focused on biosecurity practices to reduce the spread of disease, specifically avian influenza. APHIS partnered with PBS to develop the Spotlight On: Biosecurity for Birds videos, which are currently being aired on PBS stations nationwide as an educational piece between programming. The videos, featuring poultry specialists from USDA Veterinary Services, focus primarily on good biosecurity practices for backyard poultry keepers. Both the shortened and longer versions of the videos are available on YouTube and will be promoted through social media to raise awareness.
