The Senate Agriculture Committee will hold a hearing on June 25 on the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) decision that the U.S. country-of-origin labeling system discriminates against Canada and Mexico and how to resolve that dispute, Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS) announced on Wednesday.  The hearing is entitled “Country-of-Origin Labeling (COOL) and Trade Retaliation: What is at stake for America’s farmers, ranchers, businesses, and consumers.”

Canada and Mexico were scheduled to ask the WTO this week for permission to retaliate against the United States, but that process may take several months to finalize.
