USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has issued a draft specification revision for industry comment: the Federal Purchase Program Specification (FPPS) for Oven Roasted 8-Piece Cut Up Chicken.

In addition to reformatting the document into the FPPS format, AMS has updated the processing requirements to exclude the use of soy and gluten. Also, under labeling, a requirement has been added for product to be either CN labeled or, alternatively, for the supplier to submit a manufacturer’s product formulation statement. For more information, the draft document is available here. Changes are represented in blue font throughout the document.

AMS is requesting all stakeholder feedback regarding these specifications by Thursday, May 28. Please direct your questions and provide comments to: Terry Lutz, agricultural marketing specialist at [email protected] or Chandramohan Chawan, agricultural marketing specialist at [email protected].
