The U.S. poultry industry has responded quickly to growing consumer demand for poultry raised without antibiotics. This trend has created several production challenges involving increased pressure from enteric disease, the need for lower bird density, declines in feed efficiency, and higher production costs, as well as long-term sustainability.
In response to those challenges, Zoetis, Inc., a National Chicken Council allied leader member company, organized a roundtable discussion in July 2014 featuring poultry experts, pioneers in antibiotic-free production, and opinion leaders to discuss these challenges of antibiotic use restrictions and to share their experiences and offer insights on this emerging trend.
In-depth coverage of this roundtable discussion is available on The Poultry Site here.
