Recognizing that consumers have questions and concerns about how and why antibiotics are used to treat and prevent disease in chickens, the National Chicken Council has created a new infographic to help consumers better understand the role of antibiotics in raising chickens.
“The use of antibiotics is one of many important tools in the prevention and treatment of human and animal disease,” said NCC Vice President of Scientific and Regulatory Affairs Ashley Peterson, Ph.D., in a recent news release. “Preserving their effectiveness, both in humans and animals, is a responsibility we take seriously and we work continuously with animal health companies, our farmers and our veterinarians to determine when an antibiotic is really needed.”
The infographic is available at www.chickenroost.com and can also be found on NCC’s new questions and answers webpage about how, why and which antibiotics are used, or not used, in raising chickens.
