Dr. Craig A Morris, deputy administrator of USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS), Livestock and Seed Program is slated to speak at the National Chicken Council’s 60th Annual Conference scheduled Wednesday, October 29-Thursday, October 30. This year’s conference will be held at the Ritz-Carlton in downtown Washington.
Dr. Morris will discuss important issues affect the chicken industry and agriculture as a whole, including emerging issues with the school lunch program, special purchases, and animal welfare, among other topics. Dr. Morris has spent his entire professional career as a part of the meat and poultry industry. Prior to joining the AMS Livestock and Seed Program as deputy administrator, he served as associate deputy administrator of the AMS Poultry Programs. Earlier, he served as an assistant to the deputy administrator and an international marketing specialist for the AMS Livestock and Seed Program. Apart from government service, Dr. Morris serves as the assistant vice president of food safety for Future Beef Operations in Arkansas City, Kansas, and as the manager of scientific and technical affairs for the American Meat Institute.
