Chicken exports in August this year were 301,123 metric tons valued at $375.02 million compared with 317,549 tons valued at $382.02 million in August 2012, a 5.2-percent decrease in quantity and a 1.8-percent decline in value. Mexico by a strong margin was again in August the leading parts market with 49,918 tons valued at $57.73 million, an 0.7-percent increase in tonnage and a 10.4-percent increase in dollars. China, the second largest parts market, took 24,873 tons valued at $30.76 million, a 16.6-percent decrease in quantity and a 5.9-percent decrease in value. Russia, with 23,877 tons valued at $25.56 million in August, was the third largest parts destination in August this year, a 4.0-percent decrease in tonnage and a 7.5 percent decrease in value.
Six of the top 15 parts markets had increase in both quantity and value. For the top 15 markets combined, the quantity was off 5.1 percent while the value was lower by 1.1 percent. Parts exports to “other countries” were off 5.3 percent in quantity and down 3.5 percent in value.

Chicken parts exports during January-August 2013 totaled 2,348,167 metric tons valued at $2,901.67 million, essentially no-change from the 2,348,513 tons during the first eight months of last year and 1.0 percent above the $2,872.65 million during January-August 2012. Mexico was clearly the leading parts destination with 415,890 tons valued at $462.76 million, a 21.3- percent increase in quantity and a 23.4-percent increase in value. China was the second largest parts market so far this year when measured in tonnage while Canada was second in terms of dollar value.
Eight of the top 15 parts markets had an increase in quantity while nine countries had increases in value during the first eight month of this year. Together, the 15 largest parts countries had a 3.1-percent increase in quantity and a 3.7-percent rise in value. On the other hand, “other countries” experienced a 6.9-percent decrease in quantity and a 5.3-percent decrease in value.
