USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) this week announced a public meeting on June 18 at USDA headquarters in Washington D.C., to provide information and receive public comments on agenda items and draft U.S. positions to be discussed at the Codex Alimentarius Commission, which will take place July 1-5 in Rome, Italy. The meeting is also available by conference call (1.888.858.2144, participant code 6208658).

The Codex Alimentarius Commission seeks to protect the health of consumers and ensure fair trade practices are used in international food trade through the adoption of food standards, codes of practice, and other guidelines developed by its committees, and by promoting adopting and implementing these guidelines by governments.
