Chicken parts exports in December 2012 were 297,130 metric tons valued at $357.33 million compared with a year earlier when exports were 279,671 tons valued at $326.21 million, a 6.2-percent increase in tonnage and a 9.5-percent gain in dollars. The top four parts markets (Mexico, China, Taiwan, and Angola) all registered substantial measurable increases in both quantity and value. Parts to Mexico were up 11.8 percent and 24.3 percent, respectively, for quantity and value. Parts exported to China were up triple-digits with a 343.0 percent increase in quantity and up 297.9 percent in value. Taiwan’s gains were more modest with increases of 25.3 percent and 27.3 percent for quantity and value, respectively. Angola increased 130.8 percent in quantity and 149.8 percent in value.
Eleven of the top 15 parts markets had increases in both quantity and value in December 2012. Together, the top 15 markets had a 14.4- percent increase in quantity and a 15.5 percent gain in value. “Other countries” experienced an 8.1-percent decrease in quantity and a 1.4-percent decline in value.

Chicken parts exports during January-December 2012 totaled 3,573,546 metric tons valued at $4,371.32 million compared with 3,322,185 tons valued at $3,804.79 million, a 7.6-percent increase in quantity and a 14.9-percent increase in value. Mexico, the top parts market for calendar year 2012, had a 22.8-percent increase in quantity and a 43.8-percent increase in value when compared to 2011. On the other hand, next top market Hong Kong experienced a 45.8-percent decrease in quantity and a 47.9- percent decrease in value. Of the top 15 parts markets, 12 countries had increases in both quantity and value. For the top 15 markets combined, the quantity increased 12.7 percent and the value increased 17.3 percent. Export of chicken parts to “other countries” were off 2.6-percent in tonnage but gained 9.5 percent in dollars when January-December 2012 is compared with 2011.
